The Cheesegrater

This is Richard Rogers latest addition to the London skyline.

It stands directly opposite the Lloyd's Building, which is another Rogers masterpiece, on Leadenhall Street in The City.

Known as The Leadenhall Building, it is 225 meters tall. That's 48 storeys in old money.

It's the worlds tallest building to be built using a steel framed 'megastructure'. Most skyscrapers use a concrete core.

Not this one! The steel work is stunning and the massive beams are fully exposed from the ground level up. The building will be served by external lifts - which are not for the fainthearted.

It's due to open in the middle of 2014.
