King's Canyon Colours
This is part of FourSeasoned's Fridays in February Other Mediums challenge.
We visited Australia's Red Centre in 2009, and one of our stops was King's Canyon, sandstone towers situated between Alice Springs and Uluru. I wrote in my journal "I do love the desert scrub landscape. It is so reminiscent of Madikwe and South Africa. Reds, white winter grass, scrubby bushes, thorny leaves. Just no big 5, no grazing animals …" And there was that great unending blue sky.
In any event, despite taking hundreds of photos, I used the drawing pens and brushes that we'd brought along (actually for the children's use) to record the colours that we saw in my journal.
This challenge is really hard for me, I don't do much work in other mediums. I primarily take photographs and anything else I do is purely dabbling with varying degrees of success. But, this IS a challenge, and I'm trying to rise to it.
