Down Hill at Dusk
It's been months since we've seen temperatures anywhere near (as warm as) zero. Until yesterday, when it got up to a sunny 35 (F) degrees. :) Today, it was just as warm, but was accompanied by harsh rain and huge wind. Not quite as pleasant...
Most of the AOG events were canceled due to weather conditions, but the downhill skiers are a tough bunch and they opted to hit the slopes late in the day. After hours of waiting for better conditions, the athletes finally decided go for it when the rain eased up for a brief period. Still unpleasant, but at least they could see their way down the mountain.
Piper threw herself down the slope like she didn't even know the meaning of the word fear. (Really, I don't think she knows the meaning of the word.) She was amazing and a shoe-in for a medal. But, after three more athletes made the run, the weather turned again and the race was postponed until tomorrow for the remaining competitors. Let's hope the conditions improve, as there aren't many days left before the 2014 AOG closing ceremonies!
