Beef cake...
....well my lodger, L, making a Guinness and chocolate cake anyway.
Gosh, the new office is really giving me a headache. It's quite wearing being under the gaze of my colleagues 24/7 so to speak. I thought I'd prefer it but now I'm not so sure. It might be a case of be careful what you wish for. Also, I like to work in a cool to cold environment and the 21C the heating is set to is a bit much for me. Had a bit of respite from an open window for a while but that produced a draught so was closed. I'm really going to have to smuggle in a small fan, which will help.
The bright green spinach soup went down very well at lunchtime. It's more of the same tomorrow. Once again I didn't leave the premises til home time. That's tough for me. I like my fresh air at lunch. I may have to start getting out again and risk the stares.
I suggested a photographic competition amongst the staff to get ideas for the walls, which are all currently blank and unadorned, making the work space clean but dull and uninspiring and possibly depressing eventually. The most popular entries could be made into canvasses to hang. Let's see if the powers that be have the imagination to run with that....I'm not holding my breath.
Getting home, my lodger said he'd like to have a go at Nigella's delicious cake so this blip is of him getting stuck in (in his oh so special birthday apron). He said he's never made a cake before so it was quite fun being his sous chef (well washer-upper) for a change. I've got a herby shoulder of pork in the oven on a slow roast as I'd defrosted it for a dinner I had to postpone and it needed cooking. I love a pork and apple sandwich so reckon I'll be enjoying a few of them over the weekend...
