So made it down but struggled to find a room. Couple not even worth haggling over and eventually gave in...but it's a nice comfy room, with working WiFi and not too far from anywhere. Three nights here I think and then, maybe finally start north...the constant refrain....

Mamallapuran turned out to be quietly hypnotic, it was quite odd leaving but always possible to stop off again on way north; I think chennai calls for the train. But for all it's jaded feeling there were cool temples and really enjoyable Walks to be had. The first place that's made me wonder, what if...
Pondy on first wander seems intriguing: for some bizarre reason I brought my monopod (a cruel birthday present wqhih I'm sure I will one day comprehend) and wandering through the french quarter after dark I thought hmm....so that sounds like a plan...

Also here I stumbled upon some Indian wines, mainly Shiraz as the red offering. I'm intrigued. And tomorrow is Friday...I wonder if I have a corkscrew....

It's been a month now and that surprised me...seems both longer and shorter...
