Dao shao la mian
Oh my god, I am in love. I admit, this isn't the prettiest photo I took today (that was a greyhound in a pub; she was a beauty). However, this was definitely one of the best meals I've had in a long time and I thought it merited some blip love.
My friend Jarreau and I went out to Monk in the centre of Brussels for a few beers to celebrate my flatmate Yashmine's birthday, and on the way Jarreau spotted a little Chinese restaurant called Au Bon Bol around the corner as we walked to the pub. Having lived in China for a few years, he was intrigued by the woman pulling handmade noodles in the window - she was mesmerising. Needless to say, we decided to head back there after the pub to grab some dinner and it was AMAZING. Jarreau even managed to negotiate his favourite type of noodle dish in Chinese - which wasn't on the menu. I got it too; it's called dao shao la mian - basically hand pulled noodles (standard), cut with a knife to make the fat, flat shape (not standard nor easy to do). I had them with chicken and they were absolutely delicious! I will definitely be back. Possibly tomorrow. Possibly the next day as well. Yum yum yum.
