Wind Turbine Transport

Todmorden Moor Windfarm is unusual, in that you can walk through the site. Normally, you can not get near.

This is the upper tower section (4th) waiting to go down to the base of the tower where the crane was. The blades and nacelle (generator housing) were already there. The front truck is a 6x6 which is ballasted for traction to pull the other trucks up the gradients on the site.

I waited whilst they rigged the crane but they said it would be another couple of hours before anything moved so I didn't see the lifting.
