MORE RADIO

So this is what I spent most of my Saturday doing (not taking ridiculous selfies - that was 2 minutes of it ;) ).

My dad kindly picked me up from Warwick and dropped me at Leicester station so I could get a train to Notts. He was even more lovely and bought me a nice latte whilst we were waiting :) so that definitely chirped me up a bit. Was feeling a bit 'meh' beforehand and was worried it might impact on first impressions and whatnot...

Then I arrived at BBC Nottingham (half an hour early) to visit a wonderful programme called The Beat, produced and presented by the equally wonderful Dean Jackson and team. To say I had a great time would frankly be an understatement! The show was fantastic; it suited my interests perfectly, and to be honest, is quite similar to what I have done/do now on radio - obviously the Beeb's is much more professional ;)

So I ended up staying for about 5 hours and only left to get my train home - there was still another half hour left of the show, so a four-hour show in total! I really, really hope I'll get to visit again sometime.

I also had no idea that they have a TV department there too, like a proper studio and everything to film East Midlands Today and whatnot. Maurice (presenter on weekends) was super-cool and let me sit on the big red sofa with him during rehearsals and then took lots of funny pictures of me pretending to be a newsreader - and once again, my inability to look remotely serious was revealed :P
