Countdown

Well, I'd like to think that I am on countdown to one fabulous birthday, and I am.

But this evening, I am actually counting down the stack of student papers that I am reading and marking. 5, 4, 3, 2 -- eventually I'll get 'er done!

I have chuckled throughout the day, though, about a comment one of my young students, a good student, made to me in the Writing Center yesterday. He said, "You just need to flunk them all. They're straight out of high school, and they don't want to do anything!"

I tried to explain to him that I don't want them to flunk. The writing required is actually quite simple, but they just won't prepare, study, and then do it correctly. Anyway, his statement has made me smile all throughout the day.

Okay, I'm back to counting down.
