Townies

The Goosanders have come to town!
I was crossing the Stramongate Bridge in Kendal this afternoon in heavy drizzle, and peering out from under my umbrella I spotted these beauties paddling about.
There are usually one or two to be seen along the river, but I have never seen this many together, and I wonder if they are getting together ready for the breeding season?
They must find plenty to eat in the river, which is a good sign.
