Save our Pub

This is the Pump and Tap pub, built in 1897 or thereabouts, survived two wars and is now under threat of demolition all because De Montforte University want to build a sport and leisure centre on the land.pump and tap

To the right and behind the pub is the Bowstring Bridge which as I write is being cut up ready for demolition again because of De Montforte Uni.

The bridge, also built in 1897, was part of the Great Central Railway until it fell into disuse. Despite numerous protests, a petition to the PM and a lady chaining herself to the bridge the other day for 12 hours, it to will cease to be a Leicester landmark.

Edit. After being told by DMU he had till the end of the year to trade, the landlord went and ordered his Christmas stock, he has since been told to vacate the premises at the end of this month
