Patterns of life

This evening it was still light when we got home from work and so I took the dogs for a quick walk around the loch. The council had been out chopping down trees and I spotted this stump. It was really bright in the dusk and the surface of it was really smooth and looked as though it had been polished. I liked the patterns in the trunk it's so fascinating to see the life story of the tree.
