British Icons...
An old fashioned red telephone box and an old post box, two internationally recognised British icons. While the post boxes are still pretty much well used, the telephone boxes have all but disappeared as everyone over 10 has a mobile these days. You can still see them in tourist areas where they provide nice back drops for people to have their photographs taken. But away from these places they are under threat unless a new use can be found for them. This one is in the picturesque village of Great Budworth in the Cheshire countryside, south of Manchester. Look carefully and you will see it's been converted into a village library. People bring along old paperbacks and leave them on the shelves. If you see something you fancy reading you help yourself, returning it when you have finished. It all works on trust. It's nice that it does...
