1940 Home Front at Beamish

A relatively warm day today so we popped up the road to Beamish for some fresh air and a peek at the new 1940s exhibitions. It's WW2 week this week so lots of people in uniform, air raid sirens going off and evacuees staying at the farm. Jack and Anna were fascinated, especially because some of the furniture are things we have in our home - china cabinet, dining chairs etc. The old typewriter they found very amusing. Anna spent a while looking for the delete button and couldn't understand why there wasn't one. I explained in great detail how it worked while Jack stood with his mouth open! They found rationing an interesting concept too and have plans to discuss it with grandma and grandad :-D
