Fishing on the River Niger

I watched these two men fish for about an hour today, as I sat and ate my lunch on the riverside. The man with the net would throw it as you see here, then the man with the pole pushed the boat forward and the net man pulled the net in. He picked out several small fish from the net and threw them into a pot in the boat. He then clambered forward and bailed out about 10 litres of water using a scoop. They moved a few metres along the river then started all over again. Back-breaking work in very hot (today was in the mid-30s) conditions.
