The 'Yawner'
A statue of a Gaper - translates into: Yawner - used to be a traditional symbol for a pharmacy in the Netherlands.
Mostly it's a darker colored man, but that has nothing to do with racism, but everything with the exotic heritage of the medicines.
Nowadays there are less than 50 of these statues left in Holland and this one on the facade of Van der Pigge is a monument.
Like I keep saying, living in Haarlem is like living in one big open air museum. I love it!
