Barbie House

My current project is to get my daughter's Barbie House clean and ready for passing on to someone else. It hasn't been touched for about nine years and has languished there in a dark corner, gathering dust and dead moths. Now that her bedroom has been cleared, the house has emerged into the light.

It's actually quite an impressive structure. This is the front view and behind it, two wings open out to make the inside of the house. There is a working lift in the tower on the left (or at least there will be when I remove the nine-year old batteries and clean the contacts) and it is fully furnished inside. In the current property market, it could probably sell for £100,000 as a home for a very small person!

I have cleaned most of it now. Just the inside floor to do. I'm quite pleased with the way it's come up - especially as I've been over most of it with a toothbrush to get into the corners (of which there are an inordinate amount). There is some discolouration of the plastic, but then, it is about fifteen to twenty years old.

After yesterday's beautiful weather the rain has returned and hasn't stopped all day. In the pond the frogs are being very vocal and I counted eleven this morning, with two pairs, so we should be in for some more spawn. We'll be able to walk on it soon!

It's supposed to be better tomorrow, so I might take the hide down to the river - there were a lot of birds out on the estuary, so I'll see if any of them want their picture taken.

Hope your week has begun well - especially those of you on half term.
