A Tonic for Winter?
Back to grey skies! Needed a blip and a boost.
Out on the daily dog walk decided to blip this advertising hoarding at the station. I had two reasons: the first was the colour, the second was co-incidentally the ladies who coffee on a Wednesday had been discussing what they had been dosed with as children andit also loosely linked to this week being half term for schools.
Virol was apparently a malt extract that one of the ladies had been given as a child. Another mentioned that Syrup of Figs was popular and that is now making a comeback with modern Mums (one even admitted to sneaking an extra dose because she liked it so much).I fondly remember Haliborange tablets to boost Vitamin C in Winter. Richard's parents used Minidex particularly after illness. It led me to wonder why they were popular was it largely to fill a gap in the diet or were the health professionals of the time promoting their use?
