Hexagonal font, Wareham's Lady St Mary church
This six-sided font (the only one known to exist) was cast in lead in the twelfth century. Each side shows two of the Apostles.
The presence of this flower arrangement was a happy coincidence; use the magnified photo and take a little time to admire those yellow roses!
PHOTOGRAPHIC NOTE:
It is difficult to divorce the font from the walls and other objects behind it, so I have applied a touch of vignetting to soften the background.
