Callum and the sea chest

This is wee Callum reading his book on top of his great great grandfather's sea chest.
I did not know my grandfather, however I have seen lots of photos of him. He looks a bit carmudgeonly, but apparently my grandmother knew just how to manage him.

He was an engineer and spent many years at sea. I have visited the chapel in Swansea where they were married, having met each other at the seamen's mission. Callum is just the right height and at just the right stage to get support from the chest prior to taking off on his own. It's a lovely reminder of our history.

His big sister M is a hero as she walked to the top of the Hill of Tarvit with me today-no fuss, just got on with it and she's only 2!! Shades of you Shoz!
