Objects: Knife and Spoon

These are about marriage.

This knife is from my childhood. I remember using it when I was very small. I think my mother must have given it to my wife. Not sure. It ended up in our kitchen somehow.

The spoon -- I don't know where the spoon is from. My wife had it in the drawer -- an odd piece -- when we moved in together before we were married.

I'm peculiar enough to have favorite 'tools' to use at table. My wife is interested enough in humoring me to lay them out when the meal she's serving calls for them -- i.e., this knife for a steak (and only a steak or maybe a roast), and this spoon for a soup.

Who cares, really, what utensils one uses at the supper table? What warms the heart is the love she shows in caring to haul them out sometimes for me. Lord knows that kind of attention isn't called for; but there it is anyway.
