clouds, as seen fae waterloo place

it's been much nicer weather this autumn than last year, i'm sure - i know i had other things making me depressed, but the SAD kicked in mid-august last year and didn't leave til the clocks changed; this year i feel ok as there's been little doses of sunshine on a regular basis. mind, it takes a while to come up and doesn't stick around long after lunch!

caught this on the way up to town to meet mother and her friend, A, who were up for the day to look at sewing machines. met them outside lakeland (home of irresistable kitchen gadgetry i never knew i needed til i saw it - i have to be restrained!), and found them in gales of laughter (heaven knows what the taxi chap thought). it turns out that my mother had bought a new machine, having bargained a good deal. then: 'i only turned around to buy a pair of scissors and a packet of pins!' and missed the moment that A was persuaded into putting down a deposit equivalent to that my mother had just spent on her new machine, towards something that costs as much as a car used to...

we probly should've headed for some wine at that point, but instead we did lakeland, jenners foodhall and john lewis before heading for a chinese and a glass of something. and spent so much time gossiping we got to the station just in time to see their train pulling out of the platform... two new tickets and one phonecall to father later, i put them on a train to berwick instead. it was one of those days :-)
