The mystery of the spicy bolognaise sauce

James and I are staying with my parents in Croydon for a couple of nights. When I'm here I usually shop, cook and stock up the freezer with easy-to-heat-up meals.

Today was no exception, and my Dad asked me to prioritise making vast quantities of "that spicy bolognaise sauce" you did last time....

I was puzzled - I've never made spicy bologanise and decided he must have been confusing it with something my sister had made; so I rang her to see what she had done....

However, she insisted that she has never made spicy bolognaise before either and no, Dad wasn't getting confused she had also never cooked a chilli for the freezer....

Hmmm. Ready to write off my Dad's taste buds as an oddity of getting older, I went to buy the ingredients with Mum this morning.

The penny dropped when I noticed that the usual brand of tinned chopped tomatoes I buy had expanded it's range to include "chopped tomatoes with pepper and chilli". Obviously this is what I had cooked my bolognaise with last time and not even realised!

So freezer is now stocked with suitably spicy bolognaise, and the fridge is full of left over roast pork, and my cooking responsibilities are over for another month :-)

I should have blipped the tin which solved the mystery, but I thought you would like these beautiful wet leaves and the dog better.
