What the hell are those on my feet?

Ventured into an alien environment today - Sports Direct and had a very stressful half hour buying these. Don't worry friends I've not gone sporty on you (ha ha ha as if), my Physio has requested I wear trainers and 'sports gear' at my appointment this week so we can "hit the gym".
Somebody save me....!
