River Lea, Hertford

We went for a walk as it was so nice and sunny today. Hartham was packed with people who all had the same idea. The recent storms have kept people cooped up indoors and there is more than a little "cabin fever" going on. This blip was taken from Hertford Lock and features the White House. This house was quite derelict when I was young and was used to keep chickens in.

My dad told us that the house was owned by a witch who turned children into chickens if they were naughty. We all believed him for years. After all, the house was full of clucking, white chickens with bright red wattles and combs. What more proof did gullible and naive young children need? The house has since been renovated and is indeed a desirable place to live. Sans witch, of course.
