The Light Room

Fir-st Signs

Today I visited Twywell Hills and Dales. A Wildlife Trusts reserve, back in 1994 it was purchased from the then British Steel, for the purpose of wildlife conservation. Despite being fairly local to me, I had not visited before. Due to the plethora of road works in the area, I have been taking a route past this area for the last four-or-so weeks. Having made a mental note that I should check it out, the promise of a sunny dry day (basically the best since Christmas) was enough for me to go and further test the new camera. As it happens, there wasn't much around, just a few rabbits, plenty of dog walkers and a few misbehaving dogs. Later on here would be a couple of Red Kites but nothing to match the group of six Buzzards over the house in the morning. Walking in difficult (boggy and muddy) conditions, I reached the farthest point of Twywell Wood which is mainly made up of Fir trees. I think today was a true first sign of Spring, and the trees in bud seemed to echo this.
