Bring your own boat

Today we went for a bike ride to look at the floods. The village sits on chalk - which is full of water. Where the water-table is higher than the rock you get rivers and lakes. As a result of all the rain we've had, the water-table is a lot higher than it has been of late and a lot of the low-laying areas are now full of water. The people who live where it's wet know it gets wet and just have to put up with it - I gather it floods about one year in ten. This year is a one year in ten.
