St. Thomas's Episcopal Church, Edinburgh

This is the church my daughter and her family worship in and where I preached this morning. My Granddaughter was in the worship group and my Grandson operated the Projector (which shows the song and hymn words on a large screen) so it was a family affair.

The church website says 'Welcome to St.Thomas’! Our church was set up over 150 years ago to help people find out about Jesus and to help people to live out their Christian faith in their everyday lives. This is still our passion today, and we are trying to be a church community that is biblical, enjoyable, warm and gifted, where people can explore the Christian faith honestly and at their own pace, and Christians can grow in a healthy and nourishing community, and discover and enjoy using their God-given gifts'.

On the way home I saw the Corstorphine Doocot. Info on a website says, 'One of the finest examples of a 16th-century 'beehive' doocot with rat courses (to prevent vermin climbing in) stands amidst residential bungalows south of Corstorphine High Street. The doocot is a relic of Corstorphine Castle, built in the 14th century by the Forrester family. Pigeons were an important source of meat in winter-time and especially during famines. The castle stood approximately 150 yards to the south-west (now marked by Castle Avenue).
