Flat Calm

It is absolutely flat calm this morning, the sea a mirror, a slight nip to the air.

The tide is high this morning leaving only just enough beach to get around. It is nice though, I can look up the tide tables and know when I can safely walk there. It's predictable. Those poor folk down south who are watching the waters rise not knowing how far up the garden path or kitchen cabinets it will come. I can't imagine what it must be like watching the waters come. All that time and money invested in making a house a home, ruined in a few short hours by incessant rain. Not knowing when it will recede or how long it will take to dry out.
