Sunset over the Tay in Perth

We were in Perth today for a couple of orienteering events; the Scottish Sprint Championships in North Muirton and the Scottish Night Championships on Kinoull Hill. The weather was really nice after an indifferent morning, with bright sunshine and not too cold. The sprint finished about 2:30 so we went into the city and walked some of the Perth Sculpture trail, on either side of the Tay. The flood defences in Perth were mostly shut, although the river was a good 3 metres below the gates. It may surprise people to know that the Tay has the largest volume flow of any river in Britain, being, on average, more than twice the nearest; the Trent. No doubt, at present, the others are somewhat closer in volume due to the floods. This is the view, not long after sunset, looking downstream from the West Bridge.
