Waiting For The Red to Dry
With a vague notion
of spring, red tulips emerged
on my blank canvas

I started the day with the best intentions. We were going to attend the Sons of Norway celebration at the Civic Center. However, D woke up feeling worse than yesterday. Back to bed he went. I decided to spend the day quietly at home while he slept.
It's been a month since my painting class with Linda. In that time I have been thinking a lot about tulips. I figure they can't be that complicated for a beginner to tackle so today was the day. Most of what I can do right now is really just playing with my paints and practicing wielding my palette knives.
This is a work in progress. I need to go back to add some highlights and fix a leaf or two. I'll wait until the tulips are dry so I can work around their edges without making a big mess. Acrylic paints are wonderful. No smell, the clean up is a cinch and the colours are awesome. Opening up my box full of paints is like peeling the wrapper off a big box of chocolates. Yum!
