Skating on thin ice?

Today was a quiter, stay-in-town day, so we went for a stroll around Reykjavik.

This is a shot from the middle of lake Tjörnin that had completely frozen solid. The place was crawling with families and kids just running (and sliding!) all over it, some with skates, some just in shoes (like me).

I noticed this father and child making a beeline for the bank. I think he made it to the edge without slipping.
