Bowman's Store - Memorial for the firemen who died

I remember my Grandmother telling me the story of how she was caught up in this fire. She had gone with her sister to buy some hair ribbons and they were in the store when the fire broke out. It was a frightening experience for them, but they couldn't tell their father that they'd been caught up in it because at the ages of 11 and 13 they weren't meant to be in the city on their own, and the prospect of telling him was an equally frightening thought.
