Feb 15th 2009 - The definition of Heaven

I woke early today from a disrupted sleep and emailed home and chilled before the others woke. After a nice breakfast, a walk around the block and a bit of Rummi I was ready for the day ahead. We caught a bus to our hike start point, Maïté and I gave up our seats to an old lady and a new mother and sat back to back and started a sing song on the bus. I’ve just realised I have stopped doing that so much anymore (giving up my seat rather than the sing song) and so need to make a concerted effort to start again.

The hike was only two hours but I could have walked for days in that landscape. It rained most of the time but whenever we were below the cloudline the view was simply incredible. So much so that Josefine and I picked a spot to set up home as we loved it so much! No words I could write would really do it justice. The hike itself was great even though it was muddy and we were slipping and sliding. We saw llamas, Andean pigs and playful sheep who barred our way. We arrived at hostel Llullu Llama wet and dirty but happy.

Llullu Llama was an amazing place and it was a shame we only had one night Wooden beams, hammocks, cloth chairs, thatched roofs, Ipod player, outside shower and an eco-toilet which needed wood shavings to cover the smell. It was a heavenly evening – a fire sparking, Robbie Williams ‘Swing While Your Winning’, the Danish language bubbling in the background through dulcet tones and a massage from Josefine (possibly one of the best massages in the world). Superb. Then Maïté, Joana, Sally, Tara and I ended the night with ‘I’ve never’ and some sad stories from past relationships. I felt like I knew those girls better then and we have a stronger bond.
