Essaouira

A decision last night saw us book an excursion out of Marrakech to the fishing port of Essaouira, formerly known as Timbuktu.

A very enjoyable day out where we got to see some boats, and get sunburnt :-(

After wondering about the 19th century fortifications, and the harbour, we adjourned for lunch before making our way to the beach to watch a 'league' match on the sand. This was the warm up match between Germany and Manchester City (judging by the shirts). A wonderful day - so long as you ignored the fact that every third person in the town was trying to force you to buy some drugs from them.
