Swans and Cygnets

Today we went to Cambridge as we always do on our wedding anniversary. Looking at the weather, if we had not already booked an Afternoon Tea at Harriet’s Tea Rooms then we might have stayed at home.

It was wet and windy, very wet at times, but we soldiered on taking pictures as we went, fuelled with cake and coffee in The Green Coffee Company Café as well as more cake and coffee in the Grad Pad.

These swans and their five cygnets swam up the River Cam as though it was summer, gliding to the side when two people approached them in a punt.

The Afternoon Tea was excellent as usual, but then we waited ages for the Park and Ride bus, which then took an hour to travel, which on a good day, takes only about twenty-five minutes. The drive home was equally unpleasant, with torrential rain, high winds, water on the roads and very poor visibility.
