Big Sur Pacific Coast
I (Annie) have been carrying on my adventures in California. Having been thoroughly spoilt by my godparents (Pat and Colin - thank you!), it was time to head down the coast a little, on my way to meet Chris tomorrow.
Pat and I started the day with a walk round their local Redwood national park. These trees, so straight and tall, make you feel like your time on this Earth is just a flash in the pan. You can plot back thousands of years on some of their rings. I have some fun HDRs of a fisheye shot looking up into the circles of trees, but currently that's beyond my iPad-only processing prowess.
I then said my goodbyes and drove down Highway 1 to Big Sur. On the way, I called in at Point Lobos State Reserve (another perfect Pat and Colin recommendation) for a little walk. I saw lots of seals chilling out and even a whale swimming out to sea! This is a fabulous place to walk in if ever you're in the area - just stunning.
Finally I arrived at my treat to myself for the holiday. I was staying overnight in a treehouse at the Post Ranch Inn. It's too beautiful for words up there - with fabulous views over the mountains and ocean. The treehouse itself is probably the most incredible place I've ever stayed - nothing I could say here would describe it well enough.
The blip is the view from the infinity hot tub - South along the coast, as the sun set. You can see the evening sea mist rolling in against the cliff bottoms. the sense of scale is hard to portray here - the cliffs are MUCH bigger than they look. And yes, I had my camera with me in the hot tub (shhhhh - don't tell Chris)...
Chris finishes my day (due to the oddities of time zones) by getting up early to drive to Heathrow and checking in. A long day for him tomorrow, as I meet him at Fresno airport at 6pm.
That's the end of my stint as main blipper - we'll be sharing again once Chris lands. Good thing too - he's so much better than me now it's like showing your (not very good) homework to the class when I rock up with a picture... :)
