Stand-off

Not quite the mountains. A nice log fire, the children content to play amongst themselves, a bottle of wine and good company. Not the recipe for a long walk in the mountains, just a quick explore in the foothills behind the house.

We were rewarded by seeing the alternative to the cooperativa, Can Det, which has a much lower production of virgin olive oil using very old presses and methods. Huge conical grindstones pulp the olives, which is then laid on round mats, stacked up and then pressed vertically before separation. I took some shots, but they're pretty dull.

The sheep came to the children calling, but only so far. Very sensible! They were all wearing the bells and wooden collars I've shown a link for here. They sell them in the local hardware shop. I'm going to get one for... the sake of having one.
