Vesuvio
This is me just chillen on top of Mt. Vesuvius.
Epic day today. Epic.
Woke up around 9 for our ride to the Volcano (which is still active by the way, yikes). The guy who took us there was really nice and today was his birthday!
When we first got to the stables (yes, stables) we met a nice puppy that was lounging in the sun. It was such a gorgeous day. Probably about 65 if I had to guess and sun sun sun. Soaked up a ton of vitamin D before heading back to rainy Rome. Don't worry mom I put on sunscreen.
So we each got on our horses and we were off. There was some seriously treacherous and seriously cool terrain. I felt bad that the horse had to carry me all the way up.
When we got to the summit there was a sign for the 1944 eruption which was cool to read and then we took a ton of pictures. You can see basically all Napoli from up there. It was awesome.
Seeing as it was my first peak, I took a rock from the top.
After the pictures we headed back down, and after a little galloping we were back at the stables. We washed up and got back in the car for out ride to Pompei.
Pompei is still one of the coolest things I've ever seen so I'm glad I got to go back again, especially on this gorgeous day. We walked around for about 2 hours and then we were all so dead tired and sore that we decided to get on the train back to Napoli Centrale.
Once we got back, we had about 2 hours til our train departed, and to avoid the sketchiness of Napoli Centrale at night, we shacked up in the food court and ate some pizza (which tasted almost exactly like NY pizza).
Train from Napoli > Roma, 1 hour later and book we're back on campus.
It was about 9 when we got back so I just did some homework and now I'm going to bed, very very sore.
I've officially been living in Rome for 1 month today!
