Great-grandfather's Magic lantern slides
I was given a set of about 10-15 magic lantern slides at Christmas.
They belonged to my Great-grandfather Edward Widden who lived in North Devon. In the selection there's one or two professional looking ones of scenes that look like the french revolution and one or two handpainted ones which were probably painted by him.
I liked this one as it made me chuckle. I asked my grandmother about it (his daughter) and she said that it was probably put on at the start of the magic-lantern show while everyone was still assembling in the hall. She remembers he used to put on shows in the town hall around the 20's/30's
