"Time Flies By When Your're the Driver of a Train"

This was so not meant to be the photo for today. Had a meeting in London and we have moved to a new office location right next to the 'Gherkin' - which I was planning to have as the feature for today's pic. Unfortunately, when I got to the office it was hammering down with rain (again) and I'd just got an email telling me that the meeting I'd got up early for (and travelled about 130 miles for) was about to be cancelled. So, no time for pratting around with a camera on this occasion (never mind, there will be others, I'm sure) - I had a meeting to save (wish I hadn't bothered as it turns out, but that's a diferent story).

What we see instead is an experimental shot as taken from a speeding Virgin train, somewhere to the North of Milk + Beans if memory serves me correctly. I was trying to get an effect similar to that displayed numerous times by Jacques-Henri Lartigue in his action photos (particularly of racing cars). It kinda worked - maybe on a brighter day I might be able to get a better effect.

Whilst we are on the subject, Bibi in Eden Roc Restaurant is a fabulous photograph from the early days of the art form. Can't remember if Bibi is a friend or relative of Lartigue, but she is waiting for him to return to the table after putting his camera away so that they can have lunch together. It is a grainy colour photo that reminds me of a Seurat-like Pointillisim painting. Anyhow, I digress....
