Remembrance Day
Not a wartime image, but a view of the river at the bottom of the road on an extremely grey day. The only person in the family to fight in WW2 (the others had reserved occupations, producing munitions, uniforms etc) was my uncle Jack, who was severely traumatised by his time in the trenches. Fortunately(?) he was able to be sent home with a physical injury (2 fingers were shot off - no, not those two!) and therefore avoided the stigma of shellshock.
As a more cheerful image I've uploaded an archive shot of my two youngest on their way to the school CCF parade 4 years ago.
