Poor park!

High winds last night took their toll. I went down to the Linda Vista Gardens this morning, and found these conifers had been uprooted (and a smaller one felled because it was dangerous), while behind them the boardwalk descends into the floods. At the other end of the gardens, an ancient Holm Oak had lost a huge branch, which three men from the Council were sawing into manoeuvrable chunks so that they could unblock access to the gardens and a track outside. So sad. They may have to fell the whole tree. I understand Holm Oaks are extremely strong, but where the branch was torn, it looked a bit hollow, so may be it was gradually nearing the end of its natural life.
