Life through the lens...

So sad

This sad looking little pony is one we saw at Blacktoft RSPB today.
It is one of the wild Konik ponies introduced to the reserve to keep the grass levels down for nesting birds.

A small hardy breed originally from Poland, they survive by foraging and can live in extremely low temperatures.

Today was bright and sunny, but with a biting cold wind.

Four of them were just standing in the reeds in front of one of the hides.
Very still, and not moving.
Not sure if they were just sunning themselves, but they all looked very sad.

Not a lot of birds about today, and the shots I got weren't very good. The sun was in the wrong place!
We did see a lovely hare, which came bounding up to us, stopped dead, surprised to see us, turned and bounded off in the other direction.
No chance of a photo.

What a different day to yesterday, but bad weather forecast for tomorrow!

However the sun felt warmer today, as if Spring is just around the corner.
Let's hope so!!
