River Thames - Victoria Embankment
This river gate was built in 1626 and is now set back about 100 yards from the man-made bank of the river (those are the outside tables of Gordon's Wine Bar in the background, if you know it). It hasn't moved but the river has.
A nearby plaque reads "THIS GATE MARKS THE POSITION OF THE NORTH BANK OF THE RIVER THAMES BEFORE THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE VICTORIA EMBANKMENT IN 1862".
Keep looking around and reading the plaques, you never know what you might find.
