Out on the Winding, Windy Moors ....
Day 4
Up on the North Yorkshire Moors. We drove to Carton in Cleveland, and up a really steep single track road with passing places to Lord Stone's Country Park. Very slushy and slippery. We walked over to the edge of the moor, a wonderful view over the north east of Englandshire.
Freezing cold up there, so we headed to Osmotherly and on to Cod Beck reservoir. A muddy walk around the water, and then a challenge. The stepping stones on the return walk were submerged and impassible in walking boots. A kindly dog walker on the other side directed us to scramble up the hillside, over the moor, to a bridge. After walking through heather and a lot of mud, we found it.
A stop for delicious home-made mushroom soup, and then a visit to the Joe Cornish Gallery in Northallerton for some inspiration. I bought a portfolio of his recent work, to browse and enjoy. Well worth a visit, and a lovely cafe too.
(Backblipped on Thursday 13 Feb. Yorkshire adventures start here.)
