Heading home....
.....after a good training session on the beach, this horse knew the way home.
The colours of the sea were beautiful as they glistened in the light, delicate shades of turquoise changing to slightly darker and then almost a light purple as clouds drifted by. Waves gently rolled in to shore while a light breeze rustled the grasses and trees behind us. The sand was warm as our toes sunk deeply into the dunes.
A couple of ladies were cooling off, skirts up round their knees while the waves engulfed their feet, they chatted as the horse and jockey trotted by. A man dressed in smart casual office clothes gave us a smile as he wandered down the beach, probably pleased to be out of the office and in the fresh sea air.
The coastline of Pegasus Bay was clear, to the south the Port Hills with Sumner below were well in view and to the north, the direction we are looking, the ranges heading towards Kaikoura were clearly visible.
I never expected to see the horses training today, the beach can be full of surprises.
Thinking of everyone in the UK who have been severely hit by the flooding, much devastation has been shown on our news and I believe there's more to come. Also my thoughts to everyone in Australia as they battle on-going bush fires. Whether you've been hit by flooding or bush fires, may you all remain safe.
