Winter's evening heaven.
The rain hasn't stopped all day along with driving wind. The best and cheapest way to stay warm is to go to the gym and that's exactly what we did. Of course once you're back home, the mind turns to food. It's been a while since we did the batch cooking thing so we took the opportunity today to catch up. Linda brewed up a big pot of veggie soup and I made a big pot of Dal curry. Those were for the freezer. The steak pie was for MY dinner. If you want a tip for good puff pastry, try this. Keep the pastry in the freezer for a year and a half after it's sell by date. Discover it hidden under everything at the bottom of the freezer. Consider throwing it out and then change your mind and take a chance. It's the best pastry I've ever made! By the way, you can tell this is a Scottish steak pie by the addition of link sausages to it. Nothing better on a cold and wet Winter night.
