Offroading

So today I finally got the chance to escape the city and head out into the desert.

We got the day off work for 'Qatar National Sports Day' and so I joined the Qatar offroaders meet up group to go do some dune bashing!

In total we were a convoy of 18 vehicles including one Porsche Cayanne which despite all warnings to the driver before we set off, is not designed to go offroading.

Low and behold, the Porsche had no end of troubles, getting stuck in soft sand and then losing two tires which were ripped to shreds by the rocky terrain.

On the upside, some locals who were out hunting with their falcons stopped to help retrieve the car (although it was later abandoned for another day) and then this chap appeared from nowhere on a camel.

All in a very surreal but extremely enjoyable day.
