L is for... Lowering The Flag

This is Jaxon our 10 year old Grandson with Alison, they were both elected to be on the school council (similar to a prefect, when I was at school) there are 12 students on the school council.
To be elected he had to write a speech of what he would do for the school and their fellow students should they elect him for the council, he wrote a fine speech before school finished last semester, he read it out to me numerous times as it had to be read out on the school stage in front of the whole school, then the students vote.

Last week school returned after the Summer Semester, Jaxon was told he had enough votes from other students to be on the council, one happy chappy..

They were each given a partner and a list of responsible jobs they need to perform as well as listening to any students who come to them with any school problem or personal problem.

One of these jobs is the hoisting of the State Flag before school starts also the lowering of the Flag at the close of school, so here he is with has partner.
Jaxon lowered the flag his partner helping as it came closer down the flag pole, the Flag is not allowed to touch the ground! then it must be folded in an honourable way, it was priceless to watch them fold it then Jaxon held onto the Flag tightly took it to the office and lowered it into it's box until tomorrow, he came out beaming!! One proud Grandchild One very proud Nanna!!
